Symptoms for diabetes:

Type 2 diabetes can cause serious health complications. Without proper treatment, Type 2 diabetes can cause organ damage, blindness, heart disease and even organ failure. Type 2 diabetes is usually not diagnosed until health complications have occurred.
Therefore, it is essential that one is properly aware of what diabetes entails. Even prior to a diagnosis, one can detect Type 2 diabetes by observing its symptoms.
The symptoms of Type 2 diabetes due to high blood sugar may include:

  • Increased hunger (especially after eating)
  • Dry mouth
  • Fatigue (weak, tired feeling)
  • Increased thirst
  • Frequent urination
  • Headaches
  • Unexplained weight loss (even though you are eating and feel hungry)
  • Blurred vision
  • Loss of consciousness (rare)

Other symptoms of Type 2 diabetes may include:

  • Slow-healing sores or cuts
  • Itching of the skin (usually around the vaginal or groin area)
  • Frequent yeast infections
  • Velvety dark skin changes of the neck, armpit and groin, called acanthosis nigricans
  • Numbness and tingling of the hands and feet
  • Decreased vision
  • Impotency

If you experience any of the above symptoms, consult your doctor immediately. If detected early, then controlling Type 2 diabetes becomes much easier. It is important to get tested for diabetes and start a treatment plan early, in order to prevent serious diabetes complications.
